24 hours per week | Den Bosch

Studio Coordinator & Ceramics Teacher

Are you an experienced ceramicist who not only enjoys teaching, but also likes making sure a studio runs smoothly every day?

We are looking for a Studio Coordinator & Ceramics Instructor for 24 hours per week. You will be a familiar face in the studio, combining teaching with the day-to-day organisation of the workspace.

You make sure students feel welcome, instructors can work comfortably, and the studio is clean, prepared and well organised.

What will you do?

Your work will be varied and will include teaching, coordination and practical studio tasks.

Teaching

  • You will teach an average of up to 4 classes and 1 workshop per week.
  • You will guide both beginner and advanced students.
  • You will help us maintain the quality and working methods of the studio.

Teacher coordination

  • We determine the course and workshop dates; based on these, you create the teacher schedule.
  • You arrange cover when a teacher is unexpectedly unavailable.
  • You divide tasks within the teaching team and make sure it is clear who is responsible for what.
  • You are the first point of contact for teachers during the day-to-day work in the studio.
  • You address colleagues in a clear and constructive way when agreements are not followed, for example regarding cleaning up, preparation or leaving the studio tidy.

Students and hospitality

  • You are a visible and approachable point of contact for students.
  • You help with practical questions and think along when something comes up.
  • You handle comments and complaints from students and, where possible, resolve them directly and appropriately.
  • For larger or sensitive matters, you coordinate with NOMO.
  • You actively contribute to an open, welcoming and pleasant atmosphere in the studio.

Studio work

  • You load and manage the kilns.
  • You prepare workshops, including wedging and preparing clay and materials.
  • You trim workshop pieces and take care of glazing.
  • You keep track of which materials and supplies need to be replenished and report this in good time.
  • Together with the team, you make sure the studio remains clean, well maintained and inviting.
  • This also includes practical tasks such as weekly vacuuming and keeping equipment such as the coffee machine clean.
  • You take on other tasks needed to keep the studio running smoothly.

Who are we looking for?

For this role, we are looking for someone who sees responsibility and takes ownership.

You are an experienced ceramicist, but just as importantly, you enjoy working with people. You like keeping an overview, making decisions and creating an environment where both students and colleagues feel comfortable.

You:

  • have extensive experience with pottery and broad ceramic knowledge
  • have experience teaching ceramics to both beginners and advanced students
  • work carefully when loading and unloading kilns
  • are organised and able to keep an overview, even when many things are happening at once
  • are able to make independent decisions within the day-to-day organisation of the studio
  • communicate easily and are comfortable addressing colleagues in a respectful way
  • handle questions, feedback and complaints from students well
  • notice what needs to be done and naturally help out where needed
  • are welcoming, approachable and enthusiastic
  • feel responsible for the appearance, quality and atmosphere of the studio.

You have a higher professional education degree (HBO) in ceramics or equivalent experience, as well as experience teaching both beginner and advanced students.

Your role within NOMO

You are more than just a teacher. You are an ambassador for NOMO and share responsibility for the day-to-day running of the studio.

Within that daily operation, you will have a high degree of independence. You schedule teachers, arrange cover, divide tasks, act as the point of contact for students and teachers, and handle practical situations as independently as possible.

At the same time, you are not on your own. Matters such as HR policy, formal performance reviews, larger complaints and purchasing materials remain the responsibility of NOMO.

We are looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership of the studio floor and understands that a well-run studio is not only about ceramics, but also about attention, hospitality and creating a pleasant atmosphere.
